CHAPTER EIGHT

Of course, the two of them were in need of a shower in the worst way when they woke up. Wyatt stood and staggered to the bathroom. They washed and found Grayson was up by the time they came out.

He’d dressed in pajama pants and an oversized T-shirt with Wonder Woman on it. There was a Styrofoam cup of what must have been the instant coffee the motel provided in one of his hands, and his hair was a mess of curls falling into his face.

“Shower’s all yours.” Wyatt bent to kiss him good morning. Grayson’s lips were soft, and he tasted like sweetness and cheap coffee. Wyatt wouldn’t want it any other way.

“Good morning.” Grayson smiled on his way past to the bathroom.

Wyatt got dressed, packed up their stuff, and threw away the ice cream carton.

Grayson came out of the bathroom dressed, his hair wet from the shower. “You ready to go?” Wyatt asked.

Grayson nodded. “Let’s go.”

The drive back to Grayson’s house was quiet, the silence between them like the sunlight flooding into the car: warm, soft, and unhurried.
